Legal Operations Analyst
About the role
The Legal Operations Analyst supports the design and execution of legal operations programs and initiatives, providing expertise to improve efficiency, visibility, and performance across the General Counsel Function. This role serves as a key contributor in implementing technology, managing data and reporting, and enabling scalable workflows.
Responsibilities
- Program & Initiative Leadership
- Support the planning and execution of legal operations programs and projects, ensuring alignment with defined objectives and timelines
- Contributes to the evaluation and implementation of technology solutions, including AI-enabled tools, to enhance legal service delivery
- Develop and maintain project documentation, workflows, and governance materials while tracking project milestones, risks, and outcomes to support program performance
- Support adoption of new tools and processes across the legal function
- Financial Management & Budget
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes by compiling data and maintaining financial models
- Maintain financial dashboards to enhance cost visibility and decision-making
- Monitor budget vs. actuals, spend trends, and variance analysis across matters, vendors, and teams
- Aid in monitoring outside counsel spend and invoice compliance
- Strategy, Analytics & Performance
- Collect, validate, and analyze data to support KPI tracking and performance measurement
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports reflecting operational and financial performance
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate findings into actionable insights
- Support business intelligence initiatives, including reporting automation and data quality improvement
- Stakeholder Engagement & Process Improvement
- Collaborate with Legal, Finance, Digital, and support staff functions to gather requirements and drive process improvement initiatives
- Analyze workflows, systems, and service delivery models to identify inefficiencies and design scalable, data-driven solutions
- Support process standardization and improvement in data quality and visibility
- Partner with stakeholders to implement tools and workflows that improve cost management, matter tracking, and outside counsel performance; supporting change management efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) required, with Finance, Accounting or other business-related degree preferred
- Minimum of five years' experience in analytics, metrics, finance, or another similar role required
- Practical knowledge of law firm billing practices and common legal matter progression (e.g., course of litigation, basic corporate or financial transactions) preferred
- Previous finance or legal operations experience focused on legal operations, technology, and analytics, including SAP, e-billing, and matter management systems experience, preferred

Pay
Compensation Range: $88,500.00 - $137,200.00
