About the Role
A prestigious plaintiff-side litigation law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Litigation Secretary to support attorneys through all phases of complex litigation, from case inception through trial. This position plays a critical role in maintaining case organization, managing deadlines, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with court procedures. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in supporting busy litigation teams.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court appearances, hearings, depositions, and case-related deadlines.
- Track and calendar litigation deadlines in accordance with court rules and procedural requirements.
- Prepare, proofread, revise, and format legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and other case-related materials.
- File documents electronically with state, federal, and appellate courts.
- Coordinate case materials and support attorneys throughout all stages of litigation and trial preparation.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
- Communicate professionally with clients, experts, court personnel, opposing counsel, and vendors.
- Assist with document management, discovery, and administrative litigation support.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive client and case information.
- Support attorneys with additional legal and administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant experience required.
- 3+ years of litigation experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, rules, and legal documentation.
- Experience filing in state and federal courts; appellate court filing experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience calendaring and tracking court deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Professional demeanor and client-service orientation.
- Legal research experience is a plus.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
