About the role
A growing litigation law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Billing Manager to join its team. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment and enjoys working collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, and accounting staff. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely billing while maintaining compliance with client billing guidelines and firm policies.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, edit, and finalize monthly client invoices
- Generate and distribute pre-bills to attorneys for review and approval
- Review attorney time entries and expenses for accuracy and compliance with client billing guidelines
- Process electronic billing through client e-billing platforms, including LEDES submissions
- Resolve invoice rejections and billing discrepancies promptly
- Coordinate billing edits, write-offs, write-downs, and adjustments with attorneys
- Maintain accurate client and matter billing information within the firm's practice management system
- Respond professionally to attorney and client billing inquiries
- Assist with accounts receivable follow-up by providing invoice support and documentation
- Prepare billing, work-in-progress (WIP), and accounts receivable reports as requested
- Ensure compliance with outside counsel billing guidelines and firm policies
- Support month-end accounting processes and perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of legal billing experience, preferably in a litigation law firm
- Experience with electronic billing platforms such as Legal Tracker, CounselLink, Collaborati, Tymetrix, or similar systems
- Knowledge of LEDES billing formats and outside counsel billing guidelines
- Experience with legal billing software such as ProLaw, Juris, Aderant, Elite, or comparable systems preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining confidentiality
- Positive attitude and commitment to providing exceptional internal and external customer service
