About the Role

D.R. Horton, Inc., the largest homebuilder in the U.S., is currently looking for a Legal Assistant for their Main Office Department. The right candidate will give administrative assistance to the Division Paralegal and HOA Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform Legal & HOA clerical assistance comprised of, but not limited to:

  • Assist Division Attorney and Paralegal in managing the land acquisition due diligence process and corporate approval submittal process
  • Assist Division Attorney and Paralegal in submitting requests for earnest money, land purchase funds and land acquisition approvals
  • Assist in other land acquisition duties
  • Assist Division Attorney and Paralegal in communications and coordination with Title/Escrow companies for land acquisition escrows, including delivery of escrow documents
  • Assist Division Attorney and Paralegal in requesting and reviewing title reports, environmental studies, surveys, site plans etc.
  • Assist Division Attorney in managing Division litigation matters, including document organization and location
  • Correspond with outside attorneys, opposing counsel, experts, etc., regarding Division litigation matters
  • Support Legal Department with management of miscellaneous projects
  • Assist HOA Coordinator with HOA formations, including document execution, delivery and recordation
  • Coordinate with HOA Management Companies on various matters to set up and maintain communities
  • Assist with HOA budget preparation, ARC reviews and approvals and other HOA management matters
  • Prepare special reports, memoranda & word processing
  • Compose letters and routine correspondence for Legal and HOA Department
  • Filing and archiving of documents
  • Interact with and respond to homeowners on a variety of issues

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Legal, Real Estate &/or HOA experience recommended
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products is essential
