About the role

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington is seeking a Federal employee in permanent competitive service positions (status candidates) to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical and analytical assistance to support the litigation needs of the United States Attorney's Office;
  • Performing a variety of litigation support functions necessary to prepare, organize, index, develop, manage, and track exhibits, evidence and data in criminal and civil cases and matters;
  • Aiding attorneys and legal staff in organizing voluminous case information for efficient retrieval;
  • Managing complex electronically stored information (ESI);
  • Processing electronically stored information (ESI) using appropriate tools;
  • Building databases in review software;
  • Training legal support staff on use of processing software, tools, and equipment used in performance of duties;
  • Applying knowledge of court programs, automation requirements, and characteristics to resolve problems.

Requirements

Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.

Qualifications

To be eligible at the GS-11 level, you must meet at least one of the following conditions:

  • Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service or equivalent paid/nonpaid experience in the private or public sector.
  • Education: One of the following types of education in a related field (e.g., Criminal Justice, Paralegal Sciences, Law): a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR LL.M., if related. Education at the graduate level must be in an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
  • Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.
