Legal Administrative Specialist (Case Manager)

Duties
- Drafts routine motions, pretrial filings, summonses, subpoenas, satisfactions of judgements, and other routine legal documents.
- Prepares and manages discovery in a variety of formats; prepares exhibits and demonstratives for use in legal proceedings.
- Provides general administrative support for assigned cases, including:
- Entering information into case management systems.
- Maintaining calendar of assigned active cases.
- Managing case-related documents.
- Conducts factual research and non-complex research of legislation, statutes, regulations, and court cases.
- Arranges travel for assigned litigation team, including securing and preparing travel authorizations and vouchers.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication, including fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing.
- Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
Qualifications
Specialized Experience: GS-09: To be eligible at the GS-09 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions:
- Specialized Experience: One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level, which can be obtained in either the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes:
- Providing legal and administrative support to one or more attorneys (e.g., examining, preparing, editing, cite-checking, and/or processing legal documents).
- Preparing and/or managing discovery in criminal or civil cases.
- Assisting with hearing or trial preparation, by preparing trial subpoenas, witness and/or exhibits lists.
- Conducting legal research in support of investigations and/or cases.
- Education: A Master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Legal Studies, Criminal Justice, Law); or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
- Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed graduate education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements. Graduate education must be in excess of 1 full year to qualify based on a combination.
