Position Overview

Bowman and Brooke LLP is a national product liability boutique law firm with more than 200 lawyers in 17 offices known for defending household name manufacturers of motor vehicles, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and consumer products in high exposure, technically intricate lawsuits and mass torts throughout all 50 states. We have surpassed our 1,000th trial milestone, affirming our rank as one of the foremost product liability trial firms in the country. We are actively searching for an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant/Legal Secretary to join our team in our Torrance, CA (LAX) office.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and proofing legal documents and correspondence
  • Filing documents in state and federal courts
  • Preparing and maintaining charts with hyperlinks for documents
  • Creating and saving documents and emails to a document management system (iManage) in accordance with firm policy
  • Calendaring legal due dates in CompuLaw
  • Maintaining attorneys calendars, scheduling meetings and other calendar commitments
  • Making travel arrangements and processing expense reports
  • Processing monthly client disbursements
  • Organizing and maintaining case files
  • Supporting multiple timekeepers
  • Supporting overall Bowman and Brooke administrative needs by assisting team members where needed

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic and ability to work well under pressure and against tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Confidence and communication skills to develop relationships of trust with team members

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Exceptional computer skills, including proficiency with software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlooks, Teams, Compulaw, etc.
  • Strong understanding of court rules and procedures with ability to obtain documents from online court directories
  • Ability to work overtime when the need arises
  • Heavy computer use
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments
  • Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. (files and boxes)

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience required
  • Civil Litigation experience required
  • Demonstrated employment stability
