About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking research and related teaching activities within the School of Science, UNSW Canberra. This role will contribute to the advancement of the School’s international profile through scholarly research, supervision of research students, and teaching in various undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting high-quality research in experimental chemistry, contributing to the School’s research profile.
  • Supervising research students and contributing to their development.
  • Teaching a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in chemistry.
  • Engaging in scholarly publications and maintaining a successful research program.
  • Building and maintaining productive relationships with colleagues, industry partners, and professional networks.
  • Supporting and inspiring a diverse student body, fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • PhD in Chemistry or a closely related experimental chemistry discipline.
  • Expertise that complements and strengthens the School’s research and teaching profile.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching, curriculum design, and course delivery at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • A strong commitment to student success, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • An established or emerging track record of high-quality research, including scholarly publications, research leadership, and supervision of higher degree students.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the broader academic community.

Pay

Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from Level B ($133,065) to Level C ($161,619), plus 17% superannuation.

Schedule

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week).
