About the role

The Department of Biological Sciences at California State University San Marcos accepts applications on an ongoing basis for its Wildfire Sciences pool of part-time lecturers. Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across the campus, with the possibility of rehiring. The pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses related to Wildfire Sciences
  • Develop and deliver course materials
  • Maintain classroom safety and order
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback
  • Participate in departmental meetings and committees

Requirements

  • An associate's degree in Fire Sciences
  • Demonstrable professional experience in the subject matter of the class
  • Minimum one semester of college-level teaching experience

Preferred qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Fire Sciences
  • Five (5) or more years of professional experience in wildfire
  • Demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community

Qualifications

  • Out-of-state employment policy prohibits performing CSU-related work outside California
  • Must be able to work in the State of California

Benefits

Salary commensurate with degree level and experience.

Pay

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $2,279 per Weighted Teaching Unit (WTU)
