About the Department
The Department of Environmental Science & Management provides science-based knowledge and practical solutions to environmental challenges. With faculty support and opportunities for field research in Cal Poly Humboldt's ecologically diverse region, students explore relationships between people and the natural world. The Bachelor of Science program examines interactions between the biological and physical world, human institutions, and human behavior through five concentrations: Ecological Restoration, Environmental Education & Interpretation, Environmental Planning & Policy, Energy & Climate, and Geospatial Science. The department also offers minors in Ecological Restoration, Environmental Education & Interpretation, Environmental Planning, Environmental Policy, Geospatial Analysis, Natural Resource Recreation, and Natural Resources.

Position Details

- First Review Date: Applications received by April 1st annually are given first consideration. Early response is encouraged.
- Salary: Dependent on qualifications and experience. Lecturer A $5,507–$6,677; Lecturer B $6,221–$13,224; Lecturer C $6,825–$14,523 (monthly base salaries for 15 units per semester, prorated to units worked, paid in six monthly payments per full semester). Appointees are typically placed at the beginning of the range.

Cal Poly Humboldt is home to leading Native American programs including the Indian Tribal Education and Personnel Program (ITEPP) and the Indian Natural Resource, Science and Engineering Program (INRSEP). Opportunities exist for research, teaching, and community work on Native American history and cultures, with resources in Special Collections and the Humboldt Room at the library. The university engages with Native communities through initiatives like the annual California Indian Big Time, Indigenous People's Week, and the Council of American Indian Faculty and Staff.
