Lecturer Pool - General Education Writing (GEW) AY26/27
California State University San Marcos invites applications on an ongoing basis for part-time lecturer positions in General Education Writing (GEW) within the Literature and Writing Studies department. Appointments may range from one day to a full semester and are used to fill short-term, temporary vacancies as needed throughout the 2026/2027 academic year.

This pool position supports the instructional needs of the Literature and Writing Studies department, specifically in General Education Writing courses. Day, time, and modality of instruction vary based on departmental needs.
Requirements
- A doctorate or terminal degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field.
- Employment is contingent upon working in the State of California, as the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community through teaching and, where applicable, service.
Pay
Salary is based on the CSU Lecturer – Academic Year classification ranges:
- Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month
- Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
