Position Purpose
The School of Nursing at Aurora University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer of nursing for the 2026-2027 academic year. The candidate will provide high-quality instruction to both undergraduate and pre-licensure, direct-entry graduate nursing students, and/or doctor of nursing practice students in the classroom, clinical, laboratory, hybrid, and online. The candidate will possess experience and knowledge in nursing education ‘best practices’ and will hold an unencumbered RN license in the State of Illinois. This position is a 9-month academic appointment beginning August 24, 2026.

Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate, pre-licensure, direct-entry graduate, and/or graduate courses within the School of Nursing.
- Work well in a highly collaborative departmental environment.
- Teach 24 semester hours for the academic year.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Earned Master of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited graduate nursing program.
- Possess an unencumbered RN license from the State of Illinois.
- Recent nursing teaching experience (classroom, clinical, simulation laboratory, leadership, research, and online) in one or more of the following specialty areas: fundamentals, medical/surgical, critical care, and community.
Qualifications
- Earned doctorate (DNP, EdD, PhD) and CNE certification is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CCNE Accreditation, AACN Essential Competencies, and NCLEX-RN requirements preferred.
Skills
- Current teaching effectiveness in nursing education.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering a positive, nurturing, inclusive, and diverse working and learning environment.
- Established effective written, oral communication, and/or presentation skills.
- Commitment to lifelong learning.
- Successful experience mentoring undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
- Item writing experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to interact with individuals, either in person or via technology.
- Ability to be physically present in class and during office hours.
- Ability to stand next to and lift laboratory equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate physical activities.

Pay
The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
