Visiting Lecturer, Nursing

This position is a temporary faculty appointment with administrative, academic, and scholarship responsibilities aligned with the mission and philosophy of the Nursing Department and the Community College of Rhode Island. The Visiting Lecturer will demonstrate competence in teaching, curriculum development, and clinical practice in Medical/Surgical Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
• Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive, and student-centered environment with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life experiences.
• Provide academic support to all students and ensure awareness of institutional resources that foster learning and success.
• Facilitate student engagement and success through advising, counseling, and remediation as needed.
• Teach and facilitate learning in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
• Contribute to a dynamic teaching and learning environment through adaptability, creativity, and teamwork.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and refine instructional content and assessment materials.
• Contribute to curriculum development and revision.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Rhode Island Department of Registration and Nurse Education.
• Participate in college and department activities, including course coordination, committee work, faculty meetings, and policy development.
• Travel and teach at multi-campus locations as required by department needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
• Experience with clinical undergraduate nursing education.
• Strong computer skills, including data management and proficiency in multiple software packages.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Current RI RN license or eligibility within 6 months of hire.
• A minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. (visa sponsorship is not available).

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Nursing.
