California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach CS 310: Social Issues and Professional Practices in Computing.
About the Role
This in-person course examines the larger societal context of computing, covering social, ethical, legal, and professional issues. Topics include professional ethics, intellectual property, privacy, professional communication, safety, reliability, sustainability, and the development of technology solutions to address undesirable effects of computing technology and the internet.
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 2:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m.

Requirements
- A master’s degree or 4 years of relevant professional experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
- Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, employment is contingent upon working in the State of California
Preferred Qualifications
- A doctorate or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields
- Experience teaching similar courses in 4-year universities
- Demonstrated intercultural competence and a commitment to serving the campus community in teaching and service
Pay
Anticipated hiring salary range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month. Salary is commensurate with degree level and experience, generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range.
