About the role
The Senior IT Workday Lead serves as the enterprise owner and technical lead for the organization's Workday platform. This role provides strategic direction, solution architecture, governance, and operational leadership for Workday modules, integrations, reporting, analytics, and security.
The position partners with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT leadership to drive innovation, process optimization, compliance, automation, and digital transformation initiatives while ensuring the long-term scalability and effectiveness of the Workday ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Function as the enterprise Workday Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical lead responsible for Workday strategy, governance, and roadmap planning.
- Provide advanced technical leadership for Workday HCM, Payroll, Time Tracking, Recruiting, Benefits, Compensation, Talent, Performance, Learning, and related modules.
- Lead the design, development, testing, implementation, and support of enterprise-wide Workday initiatives and enhancements.
- Own Workday configuration standards, architecture, security framework, reporting strategy, and integration governance.
- Design and support complex integrations utilizing Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, APIs (REST & SOAP), and third-party integration technologies.
- Build and optimize advanced reports, dashboards, Prism Analytics, Discovery Boards, Worksheets, and executive analytics solutions.
- Partner with business and IT leadership to identify opportunities for automation, operational efficiency, and user experience improvements.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical and functional Workday issues.
- Lead Workday release planning, impact assessments, testing strategies, and change management activities.
- Establish and maintain data governance, security controls, audit readiness, and compliance with SOX, GDPR, and corporate policies.
- Provide strategic recommendations regarding future Workday capabilities including Extend, People Analytics, AI-enabled solutions, and emerging technologies.
- Mentor analysts and administrators while promoting Workday best practices across the organization.
- Review procedures, materials, or processes to assure compliance to all specifications and standards. Comply with and enforce all procedures and work instructions.
- Respond to quality and work issues and take corrective action as appropriate. Identify and segregate suspect or non-conforming material and notify the appropriate authority for instructions.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a neat and orderly manner and observe all work-related safety practices and procedures.
- Comply with all Federal, State, and local environmental laws and regulations and relevant company procedures related to the environmental management system.
- Understand, implement, and conform to areas of the IATF/ISO standards relevant to their process.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, Human Resources, or related field required.
- 8–12 years of progressive HRIS, Enterprise Applications, or Information Systems experience.
- 8+ years of direct Workday configuration, reporting, integration, and platform administration experience.
- Demonstrated leadership of enterprise Workday projects, implementations, upgrades, or transformations.
- Deep expertise across multiple Workday functional and technical areas.
- Strong experience with integration architecture, security administration, analytics, and business process optimization.
- Workday certifications preferred.
