About the role
The Lead Teaching Assistant contributes to the mission of the Center for Disability Services and Children’s Services division by taking a lead role in assisting the teacher and therapists with carrying out activities designed to address goals as outlined in the students’ Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs). This is a 10-month program, with a mandatory six-week summer program.
Responsibilities
- Assist the teacher with activities designed to address students’ needs as outlined on their Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
- Lead a classroom in the teacher’s absence.
- Enter IEP Direct data.
- Perform daily classroom preparation.
- Prepare classroom materials and provide direct instruction of students.
- Provide custodial care of students.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current New York State Teaching Assistant Certification.
- At least 2 years of job-related experience, specifically in working with children or individuals with disabilities.
Pay
$21.67 - $23.94 per hour.
