Position Summary
Lead Switchgear Production Tech is responsible for directing work efforts, guiding, monitoring, and leading a team or department. They motivate their teammates and inspire positive communication within the team to achieve production and safety goals.
Job Responsibilities
- Carry out day-to-day tasks and duties as other employees in the department.
- Communicate and collaborate with other team members.
- Give out work assignments and schedule work as needed or assigned.
- Lead by example, following all department, company, customer, state, and federal laws/procedures.
- Ensure team has necessary equipment and tools to complete tasks; schedule equipment maintenance as required.
- Maybe required to complete specific reports, forms, and other information required by department/division.
- May be asked to participate in interview process for new team members based on need.
- Mentor and coach team of technicians; audit performance quality and build training plans for direct reports.
- Ensure staff is motivated and productive.
- Cultivate and maintain customer relationships with internal customers, external customers, and vendors.
- Conduct client communication in a highly customer service-oriented manner.
- Work with local leadership to ensure continuous improvement strategic business initiatives are implemented and maintained.
- Report any employee, team, WC, safety, or other concerns to manager.
- Work may require flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work to work, coordinate, and/or communicate location business needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience And Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
- Knowledge of various industry standards such as: NETA, NEC, OSHA and NFPA.
- Production and field leads: thorough understanding of heavy industrial, utility, large commercial, renewable energy, and ability to troubleshoot complex business issues.
- Production and warehouse leads: understand shipping, inventory, site specific procedures and contact.
- Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
- Must be available for out-of-town work.
- Strong communication (written and oral).
- Able to communicate with a variety of individuals and departments.
- Able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
