Responsibilities

  • Oversees the day-to-day duties of Cloud Data Platform Administrators.
  • Assigns work effectively and ensures timely and quality completion.
  • Recognizes, adopts, and enforces best practices in cloud compute, storage, services, and optimization of performance and costs.
  • Makes recommendations on workplace improvements, hiring, firing, promotions, or reassignments.
  • Onboards and mentors less experienced team members.
  • Manages Azure Services and applications, including security access and user management (Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Databricks, Key Vault, Azure Blob Storage, Azure DevOps).
  • Manages Snowflake data platform and secures access with Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) framework.
  • Conducts onboarding and training sessions for Cloud Data Platform users.
  • Automates operational tasks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps CI/CD tools and services.
  • Participates in the selection of technology stack for Cloud Data Platform and various use cases.
  • Troubleshoots issues and performance of on-prem tools and cloud services.
  • Handles incident response, issue troubleshooting, log analysis, and postmortems.
  • Works with the infrastructure team to ensure seamless operations.
  • Ensures high availability by collaborating with infrastructure, network, database, application, and analytics teams.
  • Designs solutions to monitor development activities from Data Engineering teams, such as job completions and resource utilization.
  • Implements and supports enterprise security standards in the Cloud data infrastructure.
  • Proposes, builds, and uses monitoring tools to optimize performance, provide high availability, and meet job SLAs.
  • Leads interactions with application and product teams to understand system requirements and necessary modifications to data flow, data security, and retention.
  • Proposes solutions to improve product stability, scalability, and performance with a focus on automation.
  • Works with Cloud Data Platform users to evaluate their cloud use cases and provide feedback and guidance.
  • Escalates support issues with internal teams and third-party vendors.
  • Participates in rotational on-call duty to support the production environment as necessary.
  • Shares knowledge and experience to contribute to the growth of overall team capabilities.
  • Assists team members with production issues, offers support and guidance, and communicates issues with appropriate stakeholders when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in SQL. [Required]
  • Understanding of Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) security model. [Required]
  • Understanding of distributed computing paradigm and working knowledge in technologies like Spark, Impala, NiFi, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions and Snowflake. [Required]
  • Ensure alignment with our Cloud DevOps model based on 100% automation and adoption of repeatable patterns that can be leveraged across the organization. [Required]
  • Full stack design and development experience within the Azure ecosystem in combination with Snowflake including building platforms and frameworks to create consistent, verifiable, and automatic management of applications and infrastructure between non-production and production environments. [Required]
  • Understanding of Big Data technologies like Spark, NiFi, Impala, Sqoop, Hive and File formats like Parquet, AVRO, ORC, CSV, JSON. [Required]
  • Ability to communicate complex information to internal and external audiences. [Required]
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. [Required]
  • Production level hands on expertise in configuring modern Big Data solutions: Cloudera CDH/CDP, Azure Synapase, Azure Databricks, Snowflake. [Preferred]
  • Production level maintenance of Big Data solutions, including scheduling and applying upgrades and updates, OS level patching, troubleshooting of hardware and software issues, and risk mitigations. [Preferred]
  • Understanding of Azure Networking concepts such as Express route, VNet, Private Networks etc. [Preferred]
  • Excellent ability to multi-task by balancing multiple projects at the same time. [Preferred]
  • Understanding of Healthcare HIPAA Compliance Requirements. [Preferred]
  • Good working knowledge with Git, DevOps, CI/CD. [Preferred]
  • Data Solutions Disaster Recovery. [Preferred]
  • Data warehousing and Business Intelligence. [Required]
  • Performance tuning in Big Data environments, Spark, ADF, Snowflake. [Preferred]
  • IaC Development with Terraform. [Preferred]
  • Snowflake Administration or related Database Administration. [Preferred]
  • Cloudera distribution of Hadoop. [Preferred]
  • Azure and Snowflake. [Preferred]
  • Healthcare industry. [Preferred]

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field. [Required]
  • Master's degree. [Preferred]
  • 2+ years of Azure/AWS or GCP cloud experience. [Required]
  • 2+ years of experience in a lead, managerial or customer facing role that involves assignment, delegation and overseeing completion of tasks. [Required]
  • 2+ years of Snowflake experience. [Required]
  • 2+ years of related experience. [Required]
  • 3+ years of experience managing security access. [Required]
  • 3+ years of relevant DevOps or DataOps experience. [Required]
  • 5+ years of managing enterprise applications and databases. [Required]
  • Experience in designing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to manage Azure resources using Terraform or similar. [Required]
  • Experience in managing code and dependencies, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps/GitHub along with other Configuration management best practices. [Required]
  • Experience in researching emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products and synthesizing into clear technology roadmaps and strategies. [Required]
  • Snowflake Administration experience, including managing users and roles, stored procedures to automate admin tasks. [Preferred]
  • Years of professional experience with enterprise on-prem IT assets and/or matching cloud experience. [Required]
