Snowflake Administrator / Data Platform Engineer

About the role
The Snowflake Administrator / Data Platform Engineer will manage, optimize, secure, and support enterprise-scale Snowflake data platforms. Key responsibilities include platform administration, security governance, performance tuning, user access management, automation, monitoring, and operational excellence across cloud-based data ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Snowflake accounts, databases, schemas, warehouses, resource monitors, and storage integrations.
- Create and manage users, roles, grants, RBAC hierarchy, and access policies.
- Implement enterprise security controls and governance frameworks.
- Manage Snowflake account parameters and platform configurations.
- Configure and support Single Sign-On (SSO), SCIM provisioning, and federation integrations.
- Implement role-based access control (RBAC) and least-privilege security models.
- Manage user onboarding, role assignment, and access reviews.
- Support audit and compliance requirements.
- Monitor query performance and optimize workloads.
- Manage virtual warehouses and auto-scaling configurations.
- Tune clustering, caching, data retention, and storage utilization.
- Analyze platform utilization and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Maintain monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
- Troubleshoot platform incidents and performance issues.
- Support production releases, upgrades, and platform maintenance activities.
- Conduct root-cause analysis for platform-related incidents.
- Implement masking policies, row-level security, and data classification.
- Support governance initiatives including tagging and metadata management.
- Manage audit trails, access history, and compliance reporting.
- Collaborate with security and governance teams.
- Develop automation scripts using Python, SnowSQL, or Terraform.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for Snowflake deployments.
- Automate user provisioning, role assignments, and operational tasks.
- Implement Infrastructure-as-Code practices for Snowflake environments.
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on Snowflake administration experience.
- Minimum 6 years of overall Data Platform or Data Engineering experience.
- Experience supporting production-critical Snowflake environments.
- Experience working in Azure cloud environments.
Qualifications
- Experience with SnowPro Advanced Administrator Certification.
- Experience with dbt, Airflow, Kafka, Informatica, or StreamSets.
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data platforms.
- Exposure to Databricks, Azure Data Factory, or AWS Data Services.
- Knowledge of Data Governance tools such as Atlan, Collibra, or Alation.
Skills
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills.
- Ability to work with global delivery teams.
- Experience supporting Production, KTLO, and operational environments.
- Nice-to-have certifications: SnowPro Advanced Administrator, SnowPro Core Certification, AWS/Azure/GCP Cloud Certification, Terraform Associate.
