Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Perform installation and commissioning on drive systems, power systems, automation systems or dynamic positioning systems at customer site locations during ship construction.
- Address troubleshooting activities at site locations during scheduled Port visits or at sea to diagnose problems, determine appropriate resolution, and implement corrective actions.
- Support a wide range of engineering tasks to ensure the technical integrity and proper installation and commissioning of our equipment.
- Develop documentation to execute work (such as commissioning and maintenance procedures), as well as execute customer training.
- Address on-site project management and technical leader duties to resolve customer issues and provide customer satisfaction.
- Identify sales opportunities for service agreements, spare parts, training, and upgrades.
- Provide on call support in response to customer calls for service.
- Assist in the growth and direction of the North American business.
- Provide support to engineering teams working on customer upgrade projects.
- Complete timely service reports and other administrative requirements.
- Perform work on-board vessels within GE and Customer safety guidelines either in shipyards or offshore.
- Provide support during extended hours or overtime during peak periods and emergency circumstances.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related.
- Three (3) years of experience in AC/DC drive systems in a customer-facing role.
- Work experience to include:
- Three (3) years of experience working with power conversion or system controllers (e.g., PEC, PECe, CDC, RXi, or P80i).
- Three (3) years of experience supporting Low-Voltage (LV) and Medium-Voltage (MV) drive technology to include: LV7000, DC Drives 2100E, SD7000, MV3000 or MV7000.
- Onshore and offshore installation and commissioning project management;
- Motor Control Centers (MCC), or Power Control Centers (PCC);
- Communication protocols including: Ethernet, Profibus, and Modbus;
- Executing performance tests for the complete drive systems including automation and troubleshooting.
