About the role

As a Repair Operator Lead, you are a critical function of our pooling operation. You will repair damaged containers to be put back into inventory to be utilized for our customers. This role will also entail driving a forklift to act on inventory management and support our team’s operation from a repair and scrap determination standpoint.

Responsibilities

  • Safety and Compliance
    • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating tools.
    • Maintain awareness of pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the work area.
    • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment daily.
    • Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
  • Repairing Containers
    • Repair containers and lids in accordance with our quality assurance specifications and then place them back into washable inventory.
  • Documentation of Processes
    • Following scrap or repair, document the container into the appropriate database.
  • Quality Assurance Support
    • Assist the QA lead to complete collection inspections through forklift support and provide guidance on repairable/scrap containers.
    • Partner with the compliance team by attending quality meetings when necessary.
  • Inventory Management
    • Manage daily storage of Awaiting Repair and Awaiting Teardown (or Scrap) containers.
    • Support the shipment of scrap loads.
    • Conduct weekly counts of non-SKU inventory items (container feet, bolts, gaskets, plastic injection welding material, etc.).
  • Repair Process Leadership
    • Serve as the site subject matter expert for container repair standards and best practices.
    • Provide day-to-day guidance to team members regarding repair quality requirements and scrap determination criteria.
    • Train and onboard new repair operators and temporary personnel on repair processes, safety requirements, and quality expectations.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve repair quality, efficiency, and inventory recovery.
    • Partner with Operations and Quality teams to promote compliance with repair specifications and operational standards.
    • Assist in monitoring repair quality and escalating recurring issues to site leadership.

Requirements

  • Technical and maintenance expertise of relevant tools (e.g., drill, drader gun, ratchet, hammer, screwdriver).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to direct team members to ensure process efficiency.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures relevant to forklift operations as well as when utilizing power tools.
  • Ability to transport containers that weigh 225 lbs through use of a pallet jack.
  • Demonstrated expertise in container repair processes and quality standards.
  • Ability to train, coach, and provide work direction to peers and temporary personnel.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to influence operational performance through technical expertise and quality leadership.

Schedule

1st shift - Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM.
