Lead Operator

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Operator to oversee evening production activities across printing, prepress, graphics, and mailing operations. This individual will serve as a working lead who can coordinate workflows, support team members, troubleshoot production issues, and help ensure seamless execution across departments. The ideal candidate brings a combination of production leadership, technical aptitude, and operational flexibility within a print, mail, graphics, or manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day leadership for evening production operations
• Monitor schedules, production progress, and staffing needs across departments
• Coordinate work between printing, graphics, prepress, and mailing teams
• Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks and production challenges
• Ensure projects transition smoothly between shifts
• Support team productivity and quality standards
• Assist with technical troubleshooting when needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in print production, graphics, mailing, prepress, or related manufacturing environments
• Working knowledge of:
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • Digital print technologies
  • Mail production workflows
• Familiarity with platforms such as PlanetPress, OL Connect, Inspire, or similar composition/mail software
• Leadership, supervisory, or team coordination experience
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to work across multiple production disciplines

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Mac and Windows technical support experience
• Variable data printing knowledge
• Mailing and postal workflow experience
• Large-format production experience
