Operator

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a gas-fueled power plant consisting of multiple spark ignition reciprocating engines and all associated auxiliary equipment.
• Comply with all workplace, federal, state, and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including engines, generators, and auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, and valves.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance of gas processing equipment, including compressors, aftercoolers, filtration vessels, dehydration skids, and associated controls, gauges, and valves.
• Handle administrative duties, including documenting and reporting equipment maintenance, operation, and condition.
• Perform fault-finding, repairs, and reporting of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Operate advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
• Available for on-call duties, remaining within 45 minutes of the power station during these hours.
• Carry out routine housekeeping duties.
• Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others by understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.
• Support and comply with company policies and procedures as directed.
• Perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the company.

Requirements

• Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
• Maintenance, mechanical, or electrical experience and/or suitable background.
• Basic computer operation, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to collect and interpret data and write clear, accurate reports and specifications.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Qualifications

• Experience with gas and/or diesel reciprocating engines.
• Experience with Caterpillar reciprocating engines.
• Experience with LFG (Landfill Gas) power generation systems.
• Experience with LFG extraction and use systems and equipment.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and overhaul mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Familiarity with the operation of instrumentation and process control equipment and systems.
• Ability to work autonomously and self-motivate in a multi-skilled work environment.
• Ability to cooperate and effectively communicate with co-workers and contractors, sometimes during high-stress situations.
• Proficient in using computers, instrumentation, metering, and/or monitoring equipment to measure, record, and make adjustments within operating parameters.
• Basic electrical skills with the ability to fault-find and carry out preventive maintenance on electrical equipment, such as PLCs, generators, high voltage, and/or control systems.
• Basic mechanical skills with the ability to fault-find and carry out preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment, including engines, compressors, pumps, and valves.

Physical Demands

• Ability to read, write, hear, and communicate adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
• Must be able to see adequately to complete job duties and responsibilities.
• Work is physical in nature; ability to stand, sit, bend, squat, crawl, climb, stoop, and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally travel by automobile and/or airline for extended periods of time.
