Lead Treatment Operator

About the Role

This position ensures and maintains compliance and operations of the Toho Water Authority Wastewater Reclamation Facility. Responsibilities include monitoring normal operations, system pressure, chlorine residuals, performing inspections and maintenance on equipment, and evaluating facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily plant tours, collect data, samples, and analyze chlorine residuals in effluent; record details in the log book.
• Assist the Treatment Operator Chief with biannual and annual employee evaluations.
• Manage work orders by generating, assigning, reviewing, and closing them; ensure timely completion, accuracy, and cost capture.
• Maintain correct inventory of facility chemicals, fuel, and spare equipment by placing orders as necessary.
• Monitor and respond to company emails daily, filtering information, saving important data, and replying in a timely manner.
• Ensure appropriate facility GST tanks levels, pressures, flow rates, and residuals are maintained.
• Assist in Capital and Operating budget planning by evaluating facility needs and submitting budget requests with complete background and explanation.
• Process purchase order requests and approve invoices for all purchasing needs.
• Ensure all Toho Water Authority and regulatory agency reporting requirements are met (e.g., DMRs, crane inspections, meter calibrations, scale calibration, EPA QA/QC requirements, malfunction and planned maintenance reports).
• Maintain accurate and current documentation for all water facilities equipment (e.g., well information, pump and motor info, piping, valves, building records, inspection certifications, calibration records, and O&M manuals).
• Ensure safety compliance: provide appropriate PPE, conduct inspections, hold monthly safety meetings, and document all safety requirements.
• Manage daily workload by scheduling and delegating work to Operators.
• Provide regular feedback to employees under supervision through meetings and written communication; assist the Supervisor with evaluations.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED issued from an approved GED Administrator.
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
• Florida Wastewater Operator License.
• Valid State of Florida Class E Driver's License.
• Willingness to be on standby rotation.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, or crawl.
• Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

• Moderate noise level in the work environment.
• Environmental factors include indoor settings, flat surfaces, occasional walking and standing.

Pay

• Treatment Operator III/C Lead: $26.82 - $35.74 hourly ($55,786.00 - $74,339.00 annually).
• Treatment Operator IV/B Lead: $28.69 - $38.25 hourly ($59,675.00 - $79,560.00 annually).
• Treatment Operator V/A Lead: $32.13 - $45.90 hourly ($66,830.00 - $95,472.00 annually).
