LEAD REGISTRAR

About the role

This opportunity is full-time at 40 hours per week with a schedule of 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday. Wellington Regional Medical Center is a 235-bed, acute care hospital in Wellington, Florida, owned by a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc., and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital has provided high-quality healthcare to Palm Beach County since 1986 and emphasizes advanced technologies, service excellence, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Greet and collect demographic information from incoming patients in accordance with regulations and hospital policies.
• Process patients to ensure accurate registration, reimbursement verification, and record maintenance.
• Be willing to cross-train and float to other areas or departments as needed.
• Assist supervisors with training and oversight of registrars.
• Participate in on-call duties as required.
• Perform quality assurance reviews of patient charts.
• Recognize signs and symptoms of stroke, initiate stroke alerts, and maintain knowledge through annual online training.
• Assign temporary patient identification in the ED and complete full registration upon patient arrival.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care facility or related environment preferred, but not required.
• Willingness to be cross-trained in PBX, Business Office, ER, and other areas.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented, and strong organizational skills.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and computer skills.
• Filing and typing skills.
• Familiarity with HMO/PPO contracts is beneficial.
• Previous leadership experience is preferred.
