About the role
Provides frontline leadership and direct supervision to all staff on shift. Assumes management responsibilities in the absence of Respiratory leadership. Supports management decisions in a positive, professional manner.
Responsibilities
- Supports the delivery of cardiopulmonary care in accordance with applicable policy and procedure.
- Maintains patient progress to ensure effective therapist assessment and reassessment.
- Recommends changes in respiratory care plans based on documented medical necessity and established protocols.
- Prioritizes tasks, communicates priorities, and delegates duties accordingly.
- Maintains staff productivity and ensures appropriate shift coverage.
- Serves as a resource to staff, providing training and instruction.
- Affirms orientation and competency progress, supervising student and staff preceptor programs.
- Delivers and assists with emergent and routine respiratory therapy, ensuring operational efficiency in diagnostic areas.
Requirements
- Computer skills such as Word.
- Patient care skills to care for neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
- PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio proficiency.
- Exceptional clinical skills and strong leadership qualities.
Qualifications
- Associate's in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science.
- Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science (preferred).
- 3+ years experience in a hospital as a RRT.
- 1+ years in critical care.
Skills
- Knowledge of computer applications such as Word.
- Ability to provide patient care to neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
- Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
- Strong clinical and leadership skills.

- Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific unit or state in which this position is located.
- NBRC credential must be maintained as a condition of continued role eligibility.
- All States: require NBRC for new hires and incumbents.
- Florida exception: legacy incumbents may continue working and may transfer within Florida without a NBRC active credential, subject to an approved, time-limited transition period.
