Lead Registered Respiratory Care Practitioner
About the role
Leads the daily management and supervision of the respiratory care staff, both clinically and administratively. Performs clinical duties including patient assessment, ventilator management, diagnostic evaluation and other respiratory care as needed. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise, and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team. Recommends/coordinates scheduling of work assignments and daily priorities of staff.
Responsibilities
- Administers all therapies, as ordered by the physician, according to the departmental policies and procedures.
- Assures that all pulmonary function testing is done as accurately as possible.
- Assesses patients and recommends appropriate therapies/interventions.
- Helps educate patients in regards to their illnesses or condition and the relationship of their therapy.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of respiratory therapy practices, scope of practices, policies, procedures and techniques involved in providing comprehensive patient care.
- Demonstrates understanding and proper use of all patient care equipment.
- Organizes and directs staffing levels, billing procedures and equipment maintenance.
- Prepares and updates department policies and procedures in accordance with current standards and hospital policy.
- Aids in emergency resuscitation, as required, by intubating such patients as necessary, but only if approved to do so as declared in policy statements (must be certified).
- Ensures that the department has sufficient supplies and equipment to perform its assigned duties.
- Cleans and assembles equipment as necessary.
- Orients and trains new staff.
- Completes performance improvement for the department.
- Supervises substantially complex activities.
Requirements
- Education and Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelor’s): Preferred Master's Degree: Preferred Five years' technical experience with specialized knowledge in PICC, Peds, and/or NICU: Preferred Two years' leadership experience: Preferred
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and Respiratory Care Practitioner(RCP) license: Required in CACardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Preferred Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification: Preferred Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential: Required Registered or Certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care: Required Facility Specific License/Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
Qualifications

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Pay
The estimated base pay for this position is $44.86 to $67.23. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package, and a comprehensive benefits program is available for qualifying positions.
