Lead Platform Engineer, Workday Functional (HCM)

As a Workday Engineer, you will develop highly-resilient, fundamentally-sound objects to support Capital One’s Human Resource technology ecosystem. You will champion automation of functional and technical processes, drive innovative solutions, and help advance People Tech’s mission to innovate and transform the Human Experience across HR, Legal, Brand, and Global Workplace Services. This role sits within People Tech’s Engineering, Data, and Enablement Towers, building scalable platforms and data-driven insights for long-term stability and security.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Translate business priorities into HR value propositions and strategies that meet enterprise needs
• Deliver Workday solutions across HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Payroll, and Benefits through efficient, organized processes while maintaining high standards
• Communicate effectively across teams, product owners, stakeholders, and business partners to influence solutions
• Identify process improvement opportunities and collaborate with HR partners to redesign processes that optimize business results
• Research, test, and stay current on Workday updates, fixes, and capabilities
• Build and maintain thorough documentation for system implementations
• Serve as the primary contact for questions about how the system works from both business and technical perspectives
• Provide production support for Workday by troubleshooting problems, testing, and working with the business to resolve issues

Basic qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
• At least 6 years of experience with Workday functional configuration tasks
• At least 4 years of experience configuring business processes within the Workday platform
• At least 2 years of experience with calculated fields or custom reports

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 7+ years of experience with Workday functional configuration (Recruiting, Benefits, TM/PM)
• Experience working in an agile delivery environment
• Workday or Workday Pro certifications (HCM, Recruiting, Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking, or Performance Management)
• 2+ years of experience with Workday Security or Workday Reporting
• 1+ years of experience loading HCM data into Workday using existing Enterprise Interface Builders (EIBs)
