Summary

The Lead EMU Specialist is a mid-level to advanced position in the Neurophysiology Department. The role involves performing EEGs, LTVM EEGs, and Ambulatory EEGs according to department policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include using the 10/20 and 10/10 systems for EEG electrode placement, troubleshooting equipment, having a working knowledge of Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology, identifying EEG normal variants and abnormalities, providing quality EEG recordings based on patient medical history and EEG findings, demonstrating a flexible and positive attitude, collaborating with team members and management, serving as a clinical instructor for students, and performing research procedures. Additionally, the Lead EMU Specialist coordinates work flow, staff development, and manages day-to-day operations under the guidance of the supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform EEGs, LTVM EEGs, and Ambulatory EEGs
  • Use the 10/20 and 10/10 systems for EEG electrode placement
  • Apply collodion to EEG electrodes
  • Identify EEG normal variants and abnormalities
  • Provide quality EEG recordings based on patient medical history and EEG findings
  • Demonstrate a flexible and positive attitude
  • Collaborate with team members and management
  • Serve as a clinical instructor for students
  • Perform research procedures
  • Care for and maintain equipment
  • Coordinate work flow under the guidance of the Neurophysiological Leadership Team
  • Staff development
  • Manage day-to-day operations under the guidance of the supervisor

Requirements

  • Registered EEG Technician
  • Associates Degree or Trade School Graduate
  • Experience with 12-hour shifts, weekend rotations, and call as needed, including Night Shift

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Neuroanatomy and Neurophysiology
  • Ability to identify EEG normal variants and abnormalities
  • Flexible and positive attitude
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
