Qualifications
To qualify for appointment to this position - all applicants must possess the following:
- Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States (U.S.).
- Experience: None.
- Educational Requirements: High school diploma - General Education Development equivalency certificate - or proficiency certificate from a State or territorial-level Board or Department of Education.
- Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: None.

Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Responsibilities
- Spends at least 25% or more of their time performing lead duties.
- Coordinates Advanced MSA assignments and workflow found in an interdisciplinary unit.
- Affirms daily workload assessments - assigns work - and assures proper staffing coverage.
- Evaluates training records and determines training needs of MSAs to provide support across interdisciplinary settings.
- Assists the unit with complex and non-standard procedures - including clinical flow processes related to access to care across multiple clinics - specialties - and/or community resources.
- Ensures accurate and timely scheduling of appointments.
- Provides guidance to staff members - to include changes in policies and procedures.
- Creates and maintains employee work schedules.
- Acts as a liaison among Advanced MSA staff - patients - and other interdisciplinary staff to resolve day-to-day conflicts.
- Schedules Veteran appointments with using Consult Tracking Manager (CTM) - Integrated Scheduling Solution (ISS) - VS GUI (contingency) - VistA Appointment Manager (contingency) scheduling packages.
- Ensures all appointments are scheduled timely and the provider and patient's desired dates are met.
- Ensures that orders are completed in accordance with policy.
- Documents all attempts to contact patients in the Medical Record.
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics - specialties - and/or community.
- Communicating with individuals to obtain the desired effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff.
- Utilizing numerous advanced patient systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Organizing work - setting priorities - and delegating tasks/responsibilities in order to meet deadlines.
- Providing staff development and training.
- Managing staffing requirements - managing workflow priorities - and adjusting the flow of work to meet team and patient needs.
