Lead Medical Support Assistant
About the role
This is a Work Leader position. The Lead MSA is responsible for answering questions for lower graded staff relating to healthcare services in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Provides educational sessions to train new employees in clerical process in an efficient and effective manner to ensure that clerical processes, functions and goals are understood and met.
- Utilizes VA policies, regulations, guidelines and process as they relate to the scheduling of patient appointments, consults, NEAR, Electronic Wait Lists, and pre-appointment clinical requirements (i.e. labs, EKGs, x-rays) to ensure readiness for the patient visit.
- Makes routine administrative decisions and gives advice to the clinical team members in administrative functions.
- Interprets a wide variety of provider orders for inpatient and outpatient to include request for diagnostic test, medications, treatment activities, etc.: transfers that request to forms and /or enters date onto Vista.
- Maintains efficient workflow by ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments.
- Ensures all reports are complete and accurate by reviewing and monitoring data.
- Manages staffing requirements, manages priorities, and coordinates with staff in the unit in order to complete duties in an accurate and timely manner.
- Acts as a liaison between MSA and staff to resolve day to day conflicts.
Requirements
This job is open to current permanent VA Nationwide employees, Federal employees of other Agencies, and U.S. Citizens. The Lead Medical Support Assistant performs a variety of administrative functions associated with supporting patient care for the assigned clinical programs at Medical Center. Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm (Subject to change based on the needs of the service).
