Position Summary
Under minimal supervision, the Lead Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of duties to set up, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair departmental machinery and related equipment while supporting operational reliability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair machine systems within training and tool limitations.
- Cookordinate and oversee repairs performed by outside service technicians and evaluate equipment modifications when necessary.
- Perform all duties associated with Compression Department Operator IV, V, VI, and VII levels.
- Assist with evaluating new equipment needs and equipment performance.
- Train department personnel and support onboarding and development of new technicians.
- Evaluate OEM replacement parts to identify cost-saving opportunities and assist with inventory management.
- Review equipment modifications with leadership and Product Development (R&D/PE) teams to address new product requirements.
- Assist other departments with mechanical repairs and technical support as needed.
- Follow all Piramal Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical Trade School education or mechanical certification preferred.
- 3–5 years of previous mechanical maintenance experience in a related field.
- Completion of Operator IV, V, VI, and VII Skills Inventory requirements preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Self-directed, reliable, flexible, and highly motivated.
- Ability to train, mentor, and support technicians.
Physical Demands
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 300 pounds occasionally.
- Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, handling tools and equipment, speaking, and hearing.
- Must be capable of working around chemicals present in the manufacturing environment.
- May require overtime, weekends, or schedule flexibility based on business needs.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment and machinery.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as applicable.
