About the Role

Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of BHFCU buildings and grounds, ensuring safe, functional, and welcoming environments across all properties.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and non-mechanical systems including electrical, plumbing, irrigation, and structural components.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment (e.g., loader, Toolcat, skid steer, excavator) and install attachments as needed.
  • Safely and efficiently operate lawn mowers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, generators, lift pumps, pressure washers, chemical and paint sprayers, and power tools.
  • Perform and log routine generator tests and transfers per preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Safely load, secure, and tow and haul heavy equipment using flatbed and enclosed trailers, ensuring proper load balancing and secure tie-downs.
  • Maintain HVAC systems by ordering and replacing filters and belts per maintenance schedules.
  • Perform daily care of grounds including snow removal, mowing, landscaping, and litter cleanup.
  • Prune trees and shrubs, water plants, and remove weeds.
  • Spread salt and shovel snow from walkways.
  • Repair and paint fences and outbuildings.
  • Replace filters, light bulbs, and perform minor plumbing/electrical repairs.
  • Assist with staff relocation logistics, furniture moves, meeting setups, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain work orders and mileage logs.
  • Complete other tasks assigned by the Facilities & Fleet Maintenance Manager.

Requirements

  • Basic plumbing and electrical knowledge.
  • Lawn maintenance, painting, and general repair skills.
  • Experience with small equipment (e.g., snow blowers, mowers, mini excavator, skid steer, loader, Toolcat, tractor).
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Desigo and Honeywell BAS software preferred.

  • Vision: Ability to effectively review documents.
  • Speech/Hearing: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, members, and vendors.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to perform necessary computer-related input.
  • Physical Mobility: Must be able to work outside for periods of time in all kinds of weather, performing tasks that require physical strength and endurance. Daily tasks may include repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting up to 75 lbs., climbing ladders, snow removal, etc. Some tasks require shoulder mobility to perform tasks above eye level. Requires the ability to work flexible hours.

Education/Experience

  • Facilities Specialist I: One to three years of experience in a related field with equal responsibilities. Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and meet requirements to drive company vehicles.
  • Facilities Specialist II: Three to five years of experience in a related field with equal responsibilities. Meets all qualifications for a Facilities Specialist I. Must have an elevated understanding of all knowledge requirements and proficiency in utilizing Siemens Desigo and Honeywell Total Comfort BAS software. Ability to troubleshoot HVAC systems, interpret BAS data, and coordinate vendor repairs. Serve as backup receptionist, operate postage machines, and assist with mailroom operations. Proficiency in BAS (Building Automation System) is required. Ability to secure heavy equipment on trailers and operate vehicles hauling heavy equipment.
  • Lead Facilities Specialist: Five or more years of experience in facilities, maintenance fields, or leadership positions. Meets all qualifications for a Facilities Specialist II. Must have an advanced understanding of all knowledge requirements. Responsible for ongoing in-field development of team members, vendor communication, and acting as backup to the Facilities and Fleet Maintenance Manager. Lead onsite direction of assigned projects, oversee work order inspections, and drive work order forecasting efficiencies.

Working Conditions

  • Material and Equipment Involved: Siemens Desigo and Honeywell BAS software, voltmeter, snow blowers, lawn mowers, plow trucks, loader, Toolcat, ladders, shredders, dollies, general maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Work Environment/Physical Activities: Frequent travel to BHFCU’s branch locations for daily duties is required. Attendance at community events may be required. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis, and 75 lbs. on occasion, climbing ladders, and performing tasks above eye level. Strong general repair capabilities. Visual and auditory ability to read data and communicate effectively. Travel to facilities within our footprint may include overnight stays.
  • Mental and/or Emotional Requirements: Must be able to perform job functions with supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information logically. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with diverse personalities and demonstrate highest levels of customer service. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress, handle multiple priorities, and exercise discretion on confidential matters.
