Schedule

SCHEDULE: M-F 7am-3pm, On call weekend requirement 10am-630pm roughly every 9 weeks

Summary

Coordinates, schedules, and oversees all mechanical related work. Work involves performing skilled mechanical tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of mechanical equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed independently with minimal direction. Provides direction and training for other facilities staff as needed to accomplish electrical tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, schedule and oversee mechanical related work tasks
  • Coordinate assistance from contractors to maintain buildings as needed
  • Performs and coordinates security functions for assigned buildings as needed to maintain safe and secure sites
  • Perform all facets of mechanical tasks from minor (construction, wall, flooring, ceiling repairs, Door repairs, mounting of equipment to building surfaces, makes minor adjustments/repairs to HVAC systems, electrical lighting and outlet installations/services, plumbing faucet/fixture repairs, drain maintenance, patient care equipment maintenance) to more complex tasks such as (Pneumatic tube system maintenance/repair, medical gas system maintenance/repair, auto door maintenance/repair, bed maintenance/repair)
  • Lays out special mechanical system projects and makes necessary upgrades to mechanical distribution equipment/systems as necessary to complete scheduled tasks
  • Provides troubleshooting support for all other trade fields as needed for their successful completion of work assignments
  • Operates specialized tools and equipment such as power drills, saws, mechanical sockets/wrenches, meters, test gauge & analyzers equipment, welding equipment and other related tools and equipment necessary to effectively troubleshoot and resolve mechanical problems
  • Reads, interprets and utilizes plans, schematic drawings, line diagrams, specifications and work orders to determine work requirements and actions needed to successfully complete electrical related tasks
  • Interprets codes such as NFPA and other regulations related to the mechanical field to make effective decisions that result in compliant task outcomes
  • Utilizes advanced mechanical skills and knowledge to train other staff in accomplishing successful mechanical tasks
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance for essential mechanical equipment/systems to maintain them in proper working condition
  • Aid department leadership in managing contractor work activities
  • May direct operations staff when necessary per leadership
  • Aid leadership in coordinating utility/equipment shutdowns as necessary to complete tasks/projects
  • Ensures that all contractor staff follows codes and our health system policies and procedures on a fair and consistent basis
  • Monitor and document contractors work activities / or service to ensure specifications are met
  • Prioritizes, schedules, and follows up on all assigned projects
  • Coordinate and communicate task schedules and projected costs with the customer
  • Develop task specifications and update preventative/predictive maintenance procedures whenever new equipment is purchased or changes are made to current equipment or systems
  • Implements risk assessments, ICRA and PICRA safety plans, lockout tag-out, confined space, MSDS and all other regulatory programs to assure that staff is in compliance with all regulatory requirements such as JCAHO, State, OSHA, NEC, SOC, etc.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor
  • Documents all work performed and all training received (or given)
  • Communicates with all departmental / interdepartmental staff as required
  • Attends meetings and in-services as scheduled
  • Keeps all logs current
  • Requisitions supplies and materials by following purchasing and department specific procedures
  • Keeps records of work and makes reports
  • Performs prevention maintenance work as required

Required Licensure/Certifications/Qualifications

  • 5 years’ experience of mechanical experience required or experience as a Supervisor of Facilities in a Healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASSE 6040 Medical Gas Certification
  • Asbestos Certification for (Operations & Maintenance)

Education

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: Physical Requirements M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements.
