Lead Dockhand

About the role Your Boat Club is seeking a Lead Dockhand for our 2026 boating season at our location on Lake Vermilion in Tower, MN. In this role, you will help create the best experience for our customers at Your Boat Club while supporting daily marina operations and reporting directly to the Location Manager. Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead the Dockhand team by example and support the Location Manager in day-to-day operations.
2. Cook up boat and pontoon deliveries and transports.
3. Safely operate tractors and related equipment for moving, launching, and retrieving boats.
4. Aid in launching and retrieving in/out customer boats.
5. Ensure boats are clean, maintained, and prepared for customer use, including covering/uncovering boats.
6. Carry customer gear to and from boats.
7. Provide excellent customer service to members, renters, and guests.
8. Fuel boats and assist with general dock operations.
9. Perform opening and closing duties.
10. Listen to and help resolve member or rental customer issues and concerns as they arise.
11. Support end-of-season tasks, including power washing and winterization preparation.
12. Other duties as assigned, with the ability to advance!

Required Skills and Abilities

• Must be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record.
• Prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience operating boats, pontoons, trailers, tractors, or similar equipment strongly preferred.
• Boating and fueling experience is a plus; on-site training available.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lead by example and support a positive team environment.
• Treat members, renters, and guests with respect and professionalism.
• Willingness to go above and beyond to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
• Reliable attendance, proper work uniform, and effective communication with the Location Manager.
• Knowledge of the area/body of water is a plus.

Working Conditions

The hours available can vary. Much of the job is weather-dependent, so employees may be called off due to inclement weather. You will have the opportunity to work outside in a beautiful location on Lake Vermilion!
