Transdev in Dallas, Texas is seeking a customer service-oriented professional dedicated to safety for the role of Lead Dispatcher.

About the role

The Lead Dispatcher ensures the Dispatch team fills all routes and provides Operators with timely instructions and responses.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee road service and trip performance measures, including route start time, on-time performance, and incidents.
  • Respond to customer and driver questions and concerns about no-shows, cancellations, and missed trips.
  • Manage vehicle operator emergency situations and escalated calls.
  • Supervise staff on weekends and evenings.
  • Manage department reports and other communication tools.
  • Oversee and provide training to personnel performing dispatch duties.
  • Support employees and drivers with internal and external requests.
  • Assist Dispatch Manager with resolving problems and requests.
  • Prioritize calls based on importance and urgency.
  • Assist with developing and communicating standard operating procedures.
  • Maintain contact with drivers to communicate updates, delays, or special instructions.
  • Assist Dispatch Manager in accurately tracking and responding to complaints to reduce unnecessary wait times.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of transit supervisory experience preferred.
  • Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and drive results.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.
  • High level of problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to address service concerns proactively.
  • Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable (DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason).
  • Eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day).
  • Frequently walk for long distances and on possible sloped, slippery, or uneven surfaces.
  • Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds occasionally throughout the workday.
  • Lift material weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to access files or equipment stored at ground level.
  • Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing job duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
  • Conduct oral and written presentations on behalf of the organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
