Who We Are Looking For
Experienced in construction work activities with demonstrated increasing responsibility, aligned with assigned project types.
Sector experience may include: federal, state, municipal, K-12 school, water/wastewater, higher education, laboratory facilities, transportation, ports, or marina projects.
Education/Knowledge
- Lead Engineer*: Bachelor of Science in Engineering
- Lead Architect*: Bachelor of Architecture
- Lead Consultant: Bachelor Degree in related field OR Associate Degree in Engineering or Architecture with a few years of relevant experience OR years of relevant experience equivalent to the above levels
- * Local licensing regulations may prohibit use of Engineer or Architect titles without a Professional License; in those cases, the Consultant title shall be used until the Professional License is obtained
- Engineering principles; principles of construction management and project controls with specialized knowledge in one or more of the following: scheduling, cost estimating, documentation, contract administration, construction techniques
- Thorough understanding of several of MBP’s services
- Strong understanding of building codes, laws, and regulations that might affect assigned projects
- Preferred Certifications: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, Construction Manager-in-Training (CMIT) certification, Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Working toward certifications such as Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Cost Engineer (CCE), Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP), and Certified Associate Construction Manager (CACM)
- OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification (must possess or obtain within 3 months of hire)
Skills and Abilities
- Report writing, client coordination, and end-to-end assignment execution from conception to completion
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, CADD, BIM platforms (Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk 360), graphics, scheduling (Primavera Project Planner or Suretrak Project Manager), and cost estimating (RS Means CostWorks)
- Work within budgets and meet deadlines; identify potential problems and derive recommended solutions from past experiences
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Utilize computers (including Microsoft Office software) and specialized equipment
- Understand and track project schedules
- Communicate issues effectively and responsibly, verbally and in writing, with contractors, owners, subcontractors, and team members
- Obtain and maintain industry certifications specific to assigned duties
- Work collaboratively within a team
- Stand and sit as needed on project work sites; climb ladders; work at heights; and work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions
- Safely navigate construction work sites with uneven terrain
Guidance/Responsibility
- Assignments are generally received from a Senior Engineer, Construction Manager, or Project Manager
- Work independently with periodic guidance and direction
- Public and client interface with responsibility for coordination and communication
Supervisory
- May supervise technical or support staff on individual project assignments
