In Summary
You will help save lives, reduce serious injuries, and improve the culture of DEKRA’s clients through organizational change initiatives that drive safety performance improvement through client engagements.
Client Facing Responsibilities
- Understand the client’s objectives and needs and adapt the centerline model for the client engagement giving the greatest probability of success.
- Understand the role of Governance in Safety.
- Establish effective safety governance that aligns with the client organizational structure and functioning.
- Guide and facilitate measurable governance.
- Deliver DEKRA’s suite of solutions with mastery of the concepts combined with industry subject matter expertise.
- Utilize centerline positions and materials that illustrate DEKRA’s Point of View on leadership, safety, and project execution.
- Coach client leaders from the frontlines to senior leaders and become their trusted advisor.
- Track progress in meeting client objectives and adjust when necessary.
- Develop a communication structure to reliably remain up to date on the client’s situation including safety performance, successes, business challenges, industry trends, etc.
- Communicate routinely and effectively to the client leadership team.
- Practice honesty: be truthful with the client, in a manner that preserves the relationship, even when it’s hard to do so.
Team Responsibilities
- Create excellent deliverables internally so peers and project leaders can efficiently do their part.
- Meet deadlines.
- Enable and manage the success of the project team.
- Assure all solutions are integrated and aligned toward meeting client objectives.
- Communicate routinely and effectively to delivery team, and the overall project team.
- Assure the project team delivers to the client’s adaptation of the centerline, across all parts of the client organization.
- Deliver performance-related feedback to individual consultants, including areas for improvement and recognition for positive contributions.
- Escalate project related consultant success stories and guidance feedback to appropriate management levels.
Business Responsibilities
- Contribute to a safe and healthy work environment by actively participating, taking responsibility, and following established procedures and policies.
- Maintain a complete and accurate project plan for the life of the project including consultant scheduling to meet delivery needs.
- Meet goals of personally delivering billable hours as assigned by your manager in addition to working on assigned internal projects.
- Manage projects toward stated realization rate, ensuring effective utilization of consultants.
- Expand the scope of client relationships and maintain long term engagements by identifying additional areas of opportunity and surface to the Project/Program Manager.
- Maintain a professional brand of credibility internally at DEKRA and externally within the marketplace.
- Gain acceptance by existing clients to be references for future projects.
What You’ll Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 8+ years of experience in organizational change, or operations with safety responsibility, or in an industrial consulting role, or in a safety role.
- Certifications/Licenses: CSP or equivalent, LEAN Green/Black Belt preferred.
- Presence in front of Leaders – first line though senior manager.
- Demonstrated cognitive flexibility.
- Ability to successfully navigate client ambiguity.
- Ability to develop deep knowledge of DEKRA solutions.
- Ability to interpret the impact of non-safety processes on safety and culture.
- Ability to develop a strategic plan which supports the scope of work and overall safety excellence.
- Ability to manage client excellence and DEKRA business.
- Ability to create a project team culture that supports and aligns with business values.
- Fluency with various Governance structures and how they “fit” and function in various situations.
- Fluency with leading and lagging metrics and the ability to propose specific metrics for the client.
- Fluency in applying effective change management.
- Fluency in Safety Management System best practices and ability to propose enhancements to close gaps.
- Ability to lead a matrixed team.
- Ability to develop others.
Physical Considerations
- Must be able to work in a variety of client locations, environments, and conditions.
- This may include climbing stairs, walking long distances, walking on rough and uneven terrain, walking through client work facilities, working in heat/cold conditions, indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to accommodate working various shifts as client activities are scheduled.
- May require difficult travel and long periods of driving.
- Ability to move and conduct work with full range of motion.
- Ability to lift 25-50lbs (luggage).
- Extended periods of computer-based work.
- Extended periods of standing.
Travel Considerations
- Domestic and/or potential for international travel required, estimated up to 75%.
Compensation
The base pay range for this position is $105,000 annually to $195,000 annually. This position is designated as bonus-eligible, subject to plan terms and conditions. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location, position-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and placement in a specific consulting level based on experience and work history.
