About the role
The Lead Agilist I position requires at least 5 years of full-time business experience and at least 3 years of Scrum experience. After completing training in Fifth Third Agile, Scrum, and Scrum Mastering, this role involves supporting an Agile Squad or Squads.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the Agile Squad(s) understand and apply Agile and Scrum values and principles.
- Use observations to determine Squad(s) needs and intervene accordingly.
- Promote the growth of every team member.
- Craft messages and ask powerful questions to foster creative problem-solving.
- Facilitate neutral discussions to keep teams focused on delivering business value.
- Embody agility using a servant leadership approach, guiding the Squad(s) on Scrum Framework application.
- Facilitate Scrum events and activities, ensuring the team realizes value.
- Coach the Product Owner and Development Team in effective Product Backlog management.
- Coach the Agile Squad(s) in self-organization, continuous improvement, cross-functionality, risk identification, dependency management, conflict resolution, and software craftsmanship.
- Encourage the Squad(s) to solve their own problems with Agile mindsets, performance, and team dynamics.
- Coach others in the organization regarding Agile practices and impacts on team self-organization.
- Provide objective guidance, free from personal or political considerations.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and leverage other Agile frameworks and working practices.
- Model collaborative, courageous, and open behavior, promoting continuous learning and growth.
- Identify and assess risks openly, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
- Manage risks within the bank's risk appetite, achieving results through consistent risk identification, assessment, and reporting.
Qualifications
- At least 5 years of full-time business experience.
- At least 3 years of Scrum experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience presenting, teaching, mentoring, and facilitating at multiple levels of the organization, particularly inside of a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Coaching skills with the ability to communicate complex messages and teach new concepts.
- Ability to resolve interpersonal and organizational conflicts.
- Ability to apply multiple approaches to remove Agile Squad impediments.
Skills
- Solid understanding of the Scrum Framework and principles of agility.
- Understanding of how to build high-performing teams that utilize inspect and adapt loops.
- Critical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Able to present, teach, mentor, and facilitate at multiple levels of the organization.
- Understanding of all software lifecycle development disciplines.
- Working knowledge of various practices supporting agility.
- Understanding of other Agile frameworks and ways of working.
- Understanding of priorities and goal-setting in an agile business environment.
- Leadership skills, specifically leading by example and displaying behaviors associated with becoming agile.
