Trident Technical College Department of Public Safety is a division of law enforcement, safety, and a professional Police Department dedicated to providing a safe environment for the Trident Technical College Community.

Responsibilities

• Perform patrol officer duties to enforce state, county, and municipal criminal laws as well as traffic laws and college regulations.
• Protect people at all campus locations.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Must meet the requirements of LE-1 Certification with the SC Criminal Justice Academy within one (1) year of employment.
• Prior to employment, candidates will undergo an extensive background check, Physical Ability Test (PAT), and polygraph test.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical upon offer of employment.

Qualifications

• Preferred: two (2) years of law enforcement experience.
• Working knowledge of modern police methods and procedures.
• Ability to prepare reports and testify in court.
• Ability to work with a diverse population while providing excellent customer service.
• Preferred: graduates of the SC Criminal Justice Academy with one (1) year of experience in campus law enforcement.
• Other reasonable combinations of education and experience will be considered, including high school diploma and some general work experience.
• Applicable higher education coursework may be considered in lieu of work experience.
• Preferred: experience in law enforcement, military police, or as a corrections officer.
• Preferred: working knowledge of state, county, and municipal laws.

Pay

• Non-Certified Officers: starting salary of $48,400 (SC pay band LAW03).
• Certified Officers: salary range of $50,000 – $60,500 (SC pay band LAW03), commensurate with education and experience.
