About the role
To perform duties designed to provide a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors by enforcing state laws, institution policy, rules and regulations on the campus of Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
Responsibilities
- Patrol parking areas and ticket illegally parked vehicles.
- Enforce all parking and motor vehicle regulations.
- Visually check parking areas, grounds and facilities while on routine patrol to evaluate existing and/or potential safety hazards.
- Take necessary action within scope of authority to ensure the safety and protection of persons on campus.
- Investigate disturbances, accidents, etc.; determine causes and participants; initiate appropriate investigative action and necessary reports.
- Patrol facilities to assist in preventing thefts, vandalism, etc.
- Provide traffic control and other security services to assist with visiting dignitaries.
- Respond to fire alarms or other emergency calls; dispense crowd control and reroute spectators around disturbances or fires.
- Keep records and make reports of all campus activities and testify in court and other legal proceedings.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- A high school diploma.
- Two (2) years’ work experience in law enforcement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification by the Department of Public Safety in accordance with Section 23-6-430 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976, mandatory within 1 year from employment in class.
Additional Comments
- Must be able to complete a SLED background investigation for State Constable’s Commission.
