Job Responsibilities
FMU Police Officers patrol campus and the surrounding community to make them safer, work with students/faculty/staff/visitors to solve problems, conduct educational and community meetings, mediate disputes, investigate traffic collisions, investigate crimes, make arrests, and provide general police services.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
- A high school diploma and certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
- Required to participate and successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy training if not currently a Class 1 police officer.
- Required to receive and maintain a SLED Group 1 Constable Commission.
- Must be 21 years of age or older, have a satisfactory credit report, a valid SC driver's license, and pass an extensive background investigation which includes a social media review.
