OTHRFull-time

Sulzer is a leading engineering company with a proud heritage of innovation. Join our global team to grow your expertise and develop innovative solutions that enable a prosperous and more sustainable society.

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, designing, and developing mechanical products and systems, including instruments, controls, engines, and machines used in energy production, transmission, and measurement. This role is designed for early-career professionals who apply broad theoretical knowledge and investigate and analyze problems, with solutions typically discussed or verified with a senior team member.

Sulzer offers a unique two-year rotational program for early-career engineers, providing immersive exposure across key departments within the Services Division. The goal is permanent department placement upon program completion.

The Rotational Engineer program is designed to attract, develop, and retain high-potential engineers through hands-on and strategic initiatives that enhance commercial and operational excellence. Participants act as a bridge between engineering, commercial, and operations by designing and implementing shop-floor solutions, automation, supporting technical documentation, collaborating with vendors, and driving continuous improvement.

Participants will rotate through four specialized areas, each lasting six months:

  • Steam Turbines and Compressor: Overhauls and assembly, rotor and component repairs, reverse engineering and parts manufacturing, performance rerates, performance qualification tests, custom engineering solutions, and field service.
  • Gas Turbine (Industrial and Aeroderivative): Overhauls and assembly, rotor and component repairs, metallurgical evaluations, performance testing, and field service.
  • Pumps: Overhauls and assembly, rotor and component repairs, reverse engineering and parts manufacturing, performance optimization, retrofits, hydraulic testing, and field service.
  • Electro-Mechanical Services: Overhauls and repairs of motors and generators, generator rewind, high voltage coil manufacturing, engineering services, and field services.

Rotations I & II are carefully selected to match your skills and ambitions, while Rotations III & IV allow you to choose opportunities to deepen expertise or explore new interests.

Candidates will be considered for hiring at Service Center locations including, but not limited to: Houston, TX; Margate, FL; Chattanooga, TN; Barboursville, WV; Los Angeles, CA; Joliet, IL; Aurora, CO; Baton Rouge, LA; Piedmont, SC; Odessa, TX; Mobile, AL; Salt Lake City, UT; Phoenix, AZ; Gillette, WY; Colton, CA; and Orange, TX.
