The Job

Under the guidance of the Children and Families Commission for San Bernardino, and in collaboration with the community and agencies providing services to children, First 5 San Bernardino promotes, supports and enhances the early development of children (prenatal through age five) through a needs based, family centered, culturally appropriate, accessible and integrated service delivery system with well-defined and meaningful outcomes, so that all children enjoy optimal physical, cognitive, emotional and social well-being.

Minimum Requirements

  • Three (3) years of office clerical experience which includes performing a wide variety of difficult and responsible clerical duties, serving as a lead clerical worker, or supervising a clerical unit.
  • Desired Qualifications: Progressively responsible clerical experience in a First 5 environment or agency serving children and families is highly desirable.
  • Progressively responsible clerical experience which includes supervision of varied clerical staff and demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to handle multiple demands and deadlines, and computer and typing/keyboarding skills.

  • Depending on the number of applications received, there may be a competitive evaluation of qualifications and/or written test. If a written test is administered it will be the week of November 17, 2008 and will consist of an evaluation of knowledge and skills in the following topics:

Supervisory/Lead Experience

  • Carry out disciplinary actions (write reprimands, terminations, etc.)
