About the role

The role of the Grounds and Landscaping position is to create and maintain a pleasant and functional outdoor environment for the properties of Los Lunas Community Program. Duties include a variety of tasks such as mowing, cutting, and trimming foliage; cleaning outdoor spaces and sidewalks; picking up and raking trash and debris on properties; and maintaining inventory of supplies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • No prior experience or training required

Employment Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License
  • Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or pass and receive certification as a condition of continued employment
  • Employment is conditional pending results of a criminal background check

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions (hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain, and snow)
  • Exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects, reptiles, noxious plants, and infected trash
  • Must be able to work safely with dirt, soils, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides
  • Must be able to work in noisy conditions around power tools and equipment
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and/or asphalt and petroleum products
  • Subject to falls, bruises, and considerable physical strain
  • Hand dexterity required for some duties
  • Numerous specific vision abilities required, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Some climbing, reaching, kneeling, and crawling to perform job duties
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • May also perform work in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computers, telephones, faxes, copiers, and printers
  • May be required to work irregular hours and may be subject to call-out for emergencies on short notice
  • Willingness to accept change of geographical assignments
  • Interaction with the public

Salary: $17.00 – $25.49 Hourly ($35,350 – $53,024 Annually)
