About the role
The role of the Grounds and Landscaping position is to create and maintain a pleasant and functional outdoor environment for the properties of Los Lunas Community Program. Duties include a variety of tasks such as mowing, cutting, and trimming foliage; cleaning outdoor spaces and sidewalks; picking up and raking trash and debris on properties; and maintaining inventory of supplies.

Ideal Candidate
- Experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance
- Experience working with garden, hand, and power tools
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- No prior experience or training required
Employment Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or pass and receive certification as a condition of continued employment
- Employment is conditional pending results of a criminal background check
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily in the field in varying weather conditions (hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain, and snow)
- Exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects, reptiles, noxious plants, and infected trash
- Must be able to work safely with dirt, soils, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides
- Must be able to work in noisy conditions around power tools and equipment
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and/or asphalt and petroleum products
- Subject to falls, bruises, and considerable physical strain
- Hand dexterity required for some duties
- Numerous specific vision abilities required, including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Some climbing, reaching, kneeling, and crawling to perform job duties
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- May also perform work in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), personal computers, telephones, faxes, copiers, and printers
- May be required to work irregular hours and may be subject to call-out for emergencies on short notice
- Willingness to accept change of geographical assignments
- Interaction with the public
Salary: $17.00 – $25.49 Hourly ($35,350 – $53,024 Annually)
