Gardener II - Landscaping and Grounds.

12-month position, 8 hours per day. Primary work location: Henderson (Landscaping and Grounds).

About the Role

This position is responsible for the maintenance, landscaping, and upkeep of district grounds and facilities. Work involves operating and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and vehicles used in grounds maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform general landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, edging, and watering lawns and grounds.
• Maintain and repair irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads, valves, and controllers.
• Plant, cultivate, and maintain trees, shrubs, flowers, and other vegetation.
• Operate and maintain grounds equipment such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, blowers, and other power tools.
• Perform minor repairs and maintenance on fences, gates, benches, and other outdoor structures.
• Remove litter, debris, and hazardous materials from grounds and facilities.
• Assist in snow removal and ice control during winter months, including operating snow plows and spreading de-icing materials.
• Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment; may drive trucks or other vehicles to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures while operating equipment and performing duties.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Nevada Class C driver’s license.
• One year of experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, or a related field.
• Ability to operate and maintain grounds maintenance equipment and tools.
• Knowledge of basic landscaping principles, irrigation systems, and horticultural practices.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, and working in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures related to grounds maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience operating commercial-grade landscaping equipment.
• Knowledge of pesticide and fertilizer application.
• Experience with irrigation system installation and repair.
• Certification in pesticide application or related field.
