Gardener I - Landscaping and Grounds Department.

About the role

This position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled grounds maintenance work and general landscape maintenance in support of school facilities.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains power mowers and landscaping equipment
• Trims and prunes shrubs, trees, and ground cover
• Plants, transplants, and maintains flowers, shrubs, trees, and grass areas
• Irrigates planted areas and operates sprinkler systems
• Applies fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as directed
• Performs general grounds clean-up including litter and debris removal
• Maintains walkways, parking lots, and outdoor facilities
• Performs minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and grounds facilities
• Assists with special events and athletic field preparation
• May perform snow and ice removal duties as required

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment
• Physical ability to perform manual labor outdoors in various weather conditions
• Knowledge of landscaping techniques and plant care

Pay

$17.82 – $21.57 per hour

Schedule

12 months per year, 8 hours per day
