About the role
The Grounds & Landscape Supervisor oversees landscaping projects, manages voting equipment, and coordinates logistics for County Fair events. They also communicate with various stakeholders to propose innovative solutions and ideas.
Responsibilities
- Provides training and coordinates daily work activities;
- Performs grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, pruning, planting, grading, seeding, etc.;
- Operates vehicles, grounds-keeping equipment, and uses power and hand tools;
- Performs snow removal for all County facilities;
- Maintains certifications for applying herbicides, fertilizers, and certain insecticides;
- Supervises the application of herbicides and fertilizers;
- Maintains gravel roads and parking surfaces;
- Aids in event setup for County and parks and recreation special events;
- Surveys County grounds to assess conditions and implement corrective actions;
- Makes recommendations for landscaping County grounds;
- Serves in park operations and athletic field maintenance;
- Prepares and processes purchase orders;
- Maintains inventory and property management;
- Makes budget recommendations;
- Manages the budget within assigned unit/division with purchasing authority up to $5,000;
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with an Associate’s degree preferred;
- Two (2) years of related work experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience;
- A valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class A;
- Prefers a Registered Pesticide Technician License.
Qualifications
- Ability to exert significant physical effort, including lifting and moving objects weighing more than 100 pounds occasionally and more than 50 pounds frequently;
- Skills in communication, problem-solving, and project management;
- Physical demands include balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
