Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy machinery and equipment used in landscaping projects.
- Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as excavators, loaders, skid steers, and tractors.
- Follow manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines when operating equipment.
- Conduct pre- and post-operation equipment inspections to ensure proper functioning.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, including cleaning, greasing, and refueling.
- Prepare job sites for landscaping projects, including clearing debris, leveling ground, and excavating.
- Use heavy equipment to dig trenches, grade surfaces, and remove unwanted materials.
- Auxiliary in the installation of hardscape features, such as walkways, patios, and retaining walls.
- Support the construction of drainage systems and irrigation infrastructure.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Conduct routine safety checks on equipment and report any defects or malfunctions.
- Report any safety hazards, incidents, or injuries to the supervisor immediately.
- Follow instructions and guidance provided by supervisors regarding safework practices.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment to ensure its proper functioning.
- Monitor and report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Clean and lubricate equipment as necessary.
- Maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance activities.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to accomplish project goals.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient workflow.
- Assist team members with tasks as needed and promote a positive work environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery and equipment in a landscaping or construction setting.
- Valid driver license with a clean driving record.
- Certification or training in equipment operation is preferred.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and best practices for equipment operation.
- Physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor tasks as required.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment.
