Landscape Install & Enhancement Crew Leader
Position Summary
A Landscape Crew Leader is responsible for leading and managing a crew of 2–5 team members to successfully complete landscape construction and installation projects. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to executing all work with the following priorities in order: Safety, Quality, and Efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, and motivate a crew of 2–5 team members.
Provide clear direction, daily task assignments, and hands-on training.Ensure all work is completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.
Maintain strong attention to detail across the entire property, ensuring a clean, organized, and professional appearance at all times.Maintain jobsite organization, cleanliness, and professionalism.
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and clients when needed.Monitor crew productivity and uphold company performance standards.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety protocols and ensure safe operation of all tools and equipment.
Maintain compliance with DOT regulations and company vehicle policies.
Ensure proper loading, securing, and transport of equipment and materials.
Landscape Construction & Installation
Perform and oversee:
Site preparation, leveling, and grading
Drainage system installation (including drainage tile)
Hardscape paver installation
Retaining wall installation
Plant installation and bed preparation
Read, interpret, and accurately execute work according to blueprints, landscape plans, and construction drawings.
Ensure projects meet design specifications and company quality standards.
Plant Knowledge & Horticulture
Demonstrate job-specific knowledge of:
Plant identification
Growth habits and spacing requirements
Proper planting techniques
Common plant diseases and landscape issues
Identify plant health concerns and recommend solutions.
Required Qualifications
Valid driver’s license (required).
Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Card for operating commercial vehicles.
Proven experience loading, securing, and driving truck and trailer combinations.
Experience leading and managing a small crew (2–5 team members).
Proficient operation of skid steers, mini excavators, and other landscape construction equipment.
Experience in grading, drainage installation, paver systems, and retaining wall construction.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
Strong understanding of jobsite safety standards and OSHA best practices.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of landscape construction experience.
Prior leadership or foreman experience.
Ability to troubleshoot jobsite challenges and adjust plans as needed.
Knowledge of irrigation systems is a plus.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and operate equipment for extended periods.
Ability to work extended hours during peak season.
